This is one of the most popular yaoi novel series in Japan because it describes not only the gorgeous days of "celebrity of show business" & "executive of big advertisement company" but also presents a very unique uke character that is not inferior to his seme and is elder than the seme; it is called "Oyaji uke" (middle age man uke) and "Sasoi uke" (seductive and aggressive uke) and "Jouou-sama uke" (arrogant like queen uke). Using such complex concepts, the author succeeded to make seme & uke characters' power-balance to be equal / same and it makes her story to be very tense and dramatic.

This volume is divided in three parts. Current heroes, the past stories of each hero and the main story that goes from their first encounter to the present days:
Opening scenes:
A very good-looking, gorgeous and sexy young man is fucking a very lustful, cool and beautiful middle-aged man. After the hard sex, the middle-aged uke - Kiyoshi Nagami - suddenly transforms into a silver-frame eye glassed very capable and intelligent executive of a big advertisement company and starts to talk about business to the seme. This young man is a very famous and popular actor, Takurou Iseki. Nagami has made Takurou a celebrity, a 'Cinderella boy'. With his splendid ability he turned an ordinary unknown actor into a very bright movie star in just one year. So Nagami can control Takurou as he pleases though he is the uke. But business apart, they really love each other heartily & deeply....
The story of Takurou Iseki:
Takurou is a very unhappy student because his elder brother is a better student than he is and his parents always compare him with his brother. He enters a public high school because his brother goes to a private school. There he finds out his two characteristic that form a relevant part of his personality, his acting talent and his homosexuality. Once entered the college, he gets soon disappointed with the campus life and with his classmate, who changes his attitude when he finds out about Takurou's homosexuality. Takurou becomes an actor in a professional theatrical company and decides to give up the college. His parents are vehemently against his decision, but his brother understands Takurou and encourages him. Takurou can feel affection for his brother for the first time. But the next day his brother dies by car accident. He can not even attend his brother's funeral because his father forbids it. He loses his home and devotes himself to acting with more determination than before. This way, he begins to get important roles and finally one days he plays the role of the hero, even if by accident. His good reputation earns him a huge audience and important people start noticing him.
The story of Kiyoshi Nagami:
Nagami's younger years are utterly flat, too. His family is very rich and he has no financial difficulties at all. He is too intelligent to enjoy his family or school life. When he goes to a high school he decides he wants to be independent from his parents and begins to work at a cafe to save money. He feels love for the owner of the cafe and goes away from home to go and live with the owner. But the owner turns out to be bisexual and to have another female old partner. Nagami will never return the cafe. Nagami also is disappointment with Japanese uninteresting college and goes to NY. He is raped by some people at Harlem but is saved by a Japanese photographer, Mizoguchi. They become good friends and Nagami and Mizoguchi get a job at the Japanese biggest advertise company, Denpoudou (Its name comes from Dentsu and Hakuhoudou which are the first and second biggest ad agency in Japan now).
The encounter:
Nagami accepts a very important and big project - the management of the whole new advertisement campaign of Sugiyama Denki's personal PC products for general consumers (not specialists). Sugiyama Denki is the biggest Japanese electronic company. Nagami has to find the new talent for the image character of its advertisement. But nobody can satisfy Nagami. Nagami has a lot of enemies in his company because he is very capable and a true perfectionist, but he is too very arrogant and cold. Except Mizoguchi, all his co-workers are always waiting for Nagami's failure. Nagami is under a great pressure for the deadline and becomes thinner and thinner. Mizoguchi is worried for Nagami and brings him to a small theatre to make him relax. There Nagami encounters Takurou who is perfect for Nagami's advertisement campaign.
After the play, Nagami rushes to Takurou's dressing room and, enthusiastic, asks Takurou to sign a contract with him. Nagami says he will do anything Takurou wants if Takurou accepts Nagami's offer. Takurou thinks Nagami is joking and tries to test Nagami's words saying: "I accept if I can fuck you". Nagami does not refuse Takurou's proposal and they have sex right there. Nagami is so good at sex that Takurou can not stop himself and is absorbed in making love for a long time. Nagami also seems to find great pleasure in the sex and comes more than 4 times. But after sex, Nagami says to Takurou: "You accepted my contract. Now you are mine", and explains the details of the contract in a businesslike manner. Nagami promises to give Takurou a lot of money, expensive cars and a gorgeous house with furniture. Takurou is disappointed by Nagami's practical attitude and asks Nagami unkindly: "Are you a part of my furniture, too?" Then Nagami says with a smile "I think so. But I can not spend all my days with you". Both Nagami and Takurou know they have finally found their real partner.
After 3 months the TV commercial of Takurou is broadcasted all over the Japan and his name becomes very famous. Soon Takurou gets a very important role in a big theatrical company and he becomes a very famous star after just one year since when he met Nagami.
There are other two stories that are very sweet, happy romances between Nagami and Takurou.
Spain tour story:
Takurou refuses to go to Spain for making a TV commercial though he has been always cooperative with his staffs. Nagami gets angry and asks the reason to Takurou. Takurou confesses honestly to Nagami that Takurou fears airplane because of his acrophobia. Then Nagami has an idea. Takurou is staying alone in the hotel near the Narita international airport, feeling uneasy, the day before leaving for Spain. Nagami suddenly visits Takurou's room at midnight, he didn't have time to have a dinner because Nagami is very busy at work. Nagami seduces Takurou using a very dirty and lustful talk ("I'm very hungry but you will feed me": Takurou's semen will nourish Nagami!) and it makes Takurou very aroused. They fuck a lot. It goes without saying that Takorou sleeps deeply while he is in the airplane....
Karuisawa tour story:
In summer, Takurou says to Nagami that he wants to go to Karuisawa (it is a very famous summer resort in Nagano prefecture) with Nagami. But Nagami refuses it at once. Soon they both become busy and Takurou forgets it. But Nagami is very intelligent and remembers everything. Nagami gives Takurou a birthday present: a watch with a letter. The letter says "On October 7,8,9th I reserved the Manpei Hotel in Karuisawa". (The Manpei hotel is a very famous excellent hotel where every Japanese women wants to stay. John Lennon and Yoko Ono also stayed there) Takurou is very surprised and very glad and looks forward to this holiday for two months (Nagami goes abroad for his business and says to Takurou, "Don't have a love affair with any other persons" before leaving). Then, on the day of the tour, Takurou goes to the place they set for their appointment and he is very punctual. But Nagami appears three hours late with a very tired face. Nagami doesn't even apologize but orders also Takurou to drive the car to Karuisawa in spite of Takurou's lack of driving experience. As soon as they reach the hotel, Nagami falls asleep as if he was a dead man, but just only 4 hours later he gets up and begins the preparations to go sightseeing at Karuisawa. But Takurou wants to kiss Nagami and remain in bed, so Nagami gets angry and refuses to speak with Takurou. Nagami has made various plans with a lot of guide books for many days but Tokurou's kissing may ruin these plans, because Nagami is always seduced by Takurou's sexual skills. Takurou doesn't like this situation very much, but enjoys Karuisawa tour without sex, although it's raining all days. The last day, Takurou drinks too much at a famous bar of Manpei hotel and goes to sleep in bed happily. But Nagami suddenly seduces Takurou with a very skillful blow job and sits on Takurou's rod. They are very busy and the lack of communication also increases their misunderstanding....
Story)
Nagami accepts a new project of advertisement for Sugiyama Denki's personal computer series and decides to use Takurou and a young popular actress, Misaki Yasuda. Now he will be directly involved in the direction, he will control the whole work. Because of that, Nagami becomes very busy and can scarcely meet Takurou. One night, Nagami drops in at Takurou's room to take his clothes to his office. Nagami has been staying in his office for days. Takurou tries to kiss Nagami but Nagami pretends to be very busy and refuses Takurou's seduction coldly. Then Takurou gets angry and takes Nagami cruelly, almost raping him. After the brutal sex, Nagami returns the key of Takurou's room to Takurou and gets out of the room without a word.
Takurou goes to the office of Denpoudou feeling uneasy. All employees admire Nagami and are excited at the idea of working with him. Takurou is anxious, he fears that he is just Nagami's boy toy. Takurou meets with Misaki and is glad to know she has been a fan of him since when he was just a beginner, when he worked in small theaters. Takurou sees Nagami, he looks very tired and Takurou can not avoid holding Nagami. But Nagami refuses him again and scolds him, he tells Takurou not to touch or approach him anymore. Takurou is deeply disappointed and the photographer, Mizoguchi, teases Takurou suggesting that maybe Nagami has another man. It's the advertisement manager of Sugiyama Denki, Tateno. Tateno is a very gentle middle aged man who reminds Takurou of his brother. Nagami was the lover of Tateno a long time ago. Takurou feels too young and inept. One day, when Takurou watches TV, a young star, Ushio Toudou, is talking about Takurou. Toudou is going to be a model for another big electronic company, Yasuda's CM, and the people think he will be a rival for Takurou. Toudou says Takurou is a not so great actor. Takurou thinks it is real and agrees with him.
For two weeks Takurou and Nagami work very hard. Nagami becomes thinner, like a dead man. As soon as he finishes directing the long series of CM films and the photo session for posters, Nagami shuts himself in the editing room avoiding Takurou. Then Takurou's manager, Yoshida, takes Takurou to a Japanese restaurant. Yoshida says: "Someone is waiting for you there". It's Misaki. This date has been arranged by Nagami because spreading the rumor that Takurou and Misaki love each other will make their CM more effective. Takurou feels angry, so he does not refuse Misaki's proposal and makes love with her in her room.
For three days Nagami keeps working on the editing of the film. He is very tired and he has a very bad aspect and moreover he feels like fainting at the unbelievable news brought by Mizoguchi. Mizoguchi shows the gossip column of a tabloid to Nagami and tells him that Takurou laid with Misaki. Nagami is shocked and he criticizes Mizoguchi's decision to tell Takurou of Nagami's previous relationship with Tateno. Mizoguchi smiles wryly and offers to bring Nagami home. But Mizoguchi carries Nagami to Takurou's room, instead. Mizoguchi has to make use of the force to separate a weeping Nagami from him and throws him to Takurou. Nagami puts up a struggle but finally falls to sleep in Takurou's embrace. Nagami leaves Takurou's room leaving a message. It's an invitation to the dinner that Takurou accepts. After dinner, Nagami takes Takurou to Nagami's room. There Takurou knows the CM of Yasuda was canceled thanks to Nagami's intervention, because Toudou said Takurou was a not so great actor. Takurou suddenly begins to fear for Misaki. Nagami asks ironically how Takurou feels about having had sex with her. Takurou criticizes Nagami's past lover and his plan with Misaki, but Takurou knows he can never win an argument with Nagami. Nagami begins to explain everything, his past days and his preferences and so on to Takurou, and Nagami apologizes because he was so arrogant to hide his mind and past. He confesses how he was jealous and wanted to cry when he was told that Takurou made love with Misaki. Takurou remembers the words of Nagami before the trip of Karuisawa: "Don't have a love affair with any other persons." Takurou understands that Nagami loves Takurou too much and is very awkward because he fears to lose his younger attractive lover. Takurou forgives Nagami's foolish actions and takes Nagami hungrily. Then he doesn't say: "I love you best" but "I love only you, Kiyoshi" the only words that Nagami has been longing to hear. Nagami asks Takurou to go to Italy for a trip.
In Italy they spend very sweet long days, as if they were on a honeymoon (reading this, readers can vicariously experience a typical Italian tour which many Japanese women recently want to do or have already done - yeah I did it, too!). But Nagami still keeps just one great secret and it will be a terrible obstacle to his future with Takurou....Japanese yaoi readers like happy couples' sweet romance but most of them also like dramatic angst story where both lovers suffer and in the end they overcome their problems, or misunderstanding, together. So the author presents a very difficult problems that comes between Nagami and Takurou....

Nagami had had no interest in his life for a long time. He didn't know why he was living. He realized that when he met Takurou. He was born to meet Takurou and therefore now he fears to lose him. If he lost him, Nagami would never be able live alone...
Nagami, after their tour in Italy, is very busy again because he has to write the script for the movie Takurou will be starring in. They will be using the previous CM pictures shot with the actress Misaki. Nagami and Takurou have spent their short free time together making love only and not talking at all. Nagami is always very shy and can not say the sweet words Takurou uses. Takuro always says "I love you" to Nagami. But Nagami' body is very honest, it likes having sex with Takurou. At night Nagami is a very aggressive lover, but is almost too lustful and he wants Takurou hungrily, so they make love many times every night, even if Nagami looks very tired. Nagami gets involved in the sex with an intensity suggesting that he wants to forget something.
On the previous day, Nagami was quite upset in knowing there had been a replacement in the cast of his movie. The actor who will play the enemy of Takurou will not be anymore the action star Hiroshi Takeda, but will be Ushio Toudou, who is a young popular actor and a rival of Takurou. Nagami feels a weird pressure coming from his brother, Masayasu Nagami, an executive of very big bank.
Nagami's bad feeling comes true. At the first meeting of the actors of the movie, Nagami's friend, the photographer Mizoguchi, tells Nagami that Ushio has a relation with a very dangerous man, Sumio Kisugi, who should be in a mental hospital. Nagami is so shocked that his whole body trembles and his face turns pale. Mizoguchi suggests Nagami that he should tell Takurou of Kisugi. But Nagami refused it because he is afraid that if Takurou knows Nagami's tragedy, the current balanced relationship they have might change because Takurou would feel pity for him. From a distance, Nagami finds Kisugi mouthing the words "I will kill you". Then Nagami loses his consciousness. Takurou thinks Nagami fainted because of the hard sex and wants to go to live with Nagami so that they can have enough time to discuss or relax. But Takurou also fears that "living together" might change the current good and free relationship he has with Nagami.
Ushio often assumes an aggressive attitude with Takurou and dares him to accept the role in the movie. Misaki, the actress who will play the heroine, asks Ushio why he is so competitive with Takurou. Ushio says he also loves Takurou but Misaki can not understand why he tries such stunts even if he explains them to her. Misaki also says she saw Ushio kissing with his manager, Kisugi, in his car. Ushio smiles and says, "Do you know the taste of semen? I know his". Misaki runs away from Ushio and meets Takurou washing his face with his ring off. She reads the words inscribed in the ring and finds out about the love binding Takurou to Nagami. She gets angry and says she doesn't admit Takurou's homosexuality and she will not give up her love for Takurou.
At first Takurou feels embarrassed at acting a love scene with Misaki but he overcomes it and he totally devotes himself to his role as a professional actor. Ushio praises Takurou's wonderful acting and asks Takurou if he also loves Nagami like that, thus sparking Takurou's anger.
Nagami has already been to see Takurou acting but he can not call Takurou after watching his overwhelming love, scene with Misaki. When Nagami tries to return to his office, Nagami meets with Ushio in the elevator. Ushio threatens Nagami saying that Ushio's manager has a great patron, Nagami's brother, Masayasu.
Nagami's brother calls Nagami by phone and tells him that his grandfather is in critical conditions. Nagami was disinherited by his father when he was a student, so his brother refuses Nagami the right to go to visit his grandfather to the hospital, although Nagami is loved by his grandfather very much.
When Nagami comes to the studio where they are doing the movie, he meets Kisugi in the parking. Kisugi tells Nagami that he is planning to hurt Takurou. Nagami's brother, Masayasu, freed Kisugi from the mental hospital and ordered him to interfere with Nagami's work by hurting the person he loves most. Nagami is awfully shocked and remains there, kneeling on the ground, for a long time. Then Ushio appears in front of Nagami, threatens and kisses him. Takurou happens to find Nagami's car and runs towards Nagami and Ushio. Nagami must surrender to Ushio's blackmail, but Takurou misunderstands and runs away. Nagami runs behind Takurou but he can not catch up with him. When Nagami finds Mizoguchi, Nagami can not stop crying.
Takurou is very shaken but he puts up with his embarrassment and behaves like a real professional, he keeps on working in the movie as nothing has happened. At the staff party Takurou drinks too much so he asks Misaki to bring him to her room in the car. But Misaki refuses it and says, "I will not, though I love you. Please don't lose yourself."
Returning home, Takurou finds Mizoguchi on his bed holding Nagami who is already sleeping. Takurou is very surprised to know that Nagami cried hard because Takurou saw his kiss with Ushio. Mizoguchi says Takurou, "I can't tell you why Ushio blackmails Nagami, but believe Nagami..."
When Nagami wakes up, he finds Takurou sleeping on the sofa. Nagami goes to Takurou and touches his lips and Takurou suddenly bites Nagami's finger and holds him tight saying, "I will forget your behavior and I will not misunderstand you anymore. Now you may not be able to rely on me yet and you can't share all your concerns with me, but I will grow up soon to be strong enough to protect you. Please wait until that time will come. And please remember that I'm always standing by you. I love only you." Nagami asks Takurou many times, "Please say again you love me..."
Nagami decides to confront his destiny. He begins to get rid of all his things: his car where he made love with Takurou, his room with a lot of memories of Takurou, everything except his ring. Then Nagami goes to his office in the Denpoudou's building and meets his supervisor. In the office there are Takurou and his manager, Yoshida, who are waiting for the movie set to be rebuilt, since it had collapsed by accident. Nagami calls Yoshida and brings him to another room. After a while, Yoshida returns with a very pale face. He says he wants to talk with Takurou in the meeting room privately. He desperately tries to find an empty room but he can't. Then Nagami suddenly comes to them and takes Takurou to the rest room.
Nagami asks Takurou to make love there at once. Takurou hesitates a little but obeys him. Nagami says "I love you" many times though he told it only once at Karuisawa. After the hard sex, Nagami orders Takurou to return to his movie studio soon and closes the door. Nagami's voice is trembling. Takurou understands Nagami is weeping and tries to open the door but Nagami does not. Takurou keeps to hit the door with his hands until they bleed. Yoshida comes to take Takurou back and persuades him. "You should do your business. You are a professional actor and many people are waiting for your movie". Takurou gives up his resistance and goes to the studio.

"Hanarezaru Omoi vol.2" (Biblos: Be-Boy Novels) Apr/97
In this volume, the author writes about the unhappy past of Nagami and the growing process of Takurou during the absence of Nagami. Before Nagami met Takurou, he hated himself and used sex as a mean for advance his career. The behavior of Nagami somehow resembles the one of Japanese girl students today. They hate themselves physically (or hate those men who only want them for having sex), so they may often try to prostitute themselves with adult men thus wasting their youth. People never love themselves enough until they find someone who loves them exactly for what they are.

Nagami looks back in his memory...
7 years before, Nagami's company, Denpoudou, had a great problem. In Japan cosmetic company usually broadcast new TV commercials and advertisement 4 times a year because their product lines change every seasons (spring,>summer,>fall and winter). The new French cosmetic company asks Denpoudou to prepare the advertisement campaign too late for the coming eason, in fact all the other rival companies were already done. Then Nagami decided to approach the manager of the publicity department of the biggest cosmetic company, Kisugi, and to steal the idea of its advertisement campaign from Kisugi using his own body. Kisugi was utterly seduced and refused to part with Nagami even if Nagami told him about his theft and gave a lot of money to Kisugi as a way to reimburse him somehow. Kisugi was seriously hurt to know that Nagami did not love him but laid with him only for his career, so raped Nagami and tried to kill him with a knife. Mizoguchi saved Nagami and Kisugi was sent to a mental hospital by Nagami's grandfather. 7 years after, Nagami decides to face all the problems between him and Kisugi, to let Takurou live an happy life. So Nagami disappears.
Takurou has a shock when he finds out about Nagami's disappearance, but he tries to devote himself to acting (he is still working for the movie we read of in the precedent volume) and believes that Nagami one day will return to him. Nagami did not confess the reason of his disappearance to Takurou. Takurou wants to grow up soon to become a partner who doesn't have to depend upon Nagami. He tries to overcome the loneliness he feels for Nagami's absence.
The taking of the last scene is not completed because it starts raining. When Yoshida is taking Takurou home by car, they see Ushio walking absent-mindedly in the rain. Yoshida calls him and tells him to join them, so Ushio gets into their car. Ushio lets them know that Kisugi, his manager, also disappeared.
The day of the last scene, Takurou fights with Ushio because Ushio, in front of Takurou, criticizes Nagami telling him that he is like a male prostitute. Mizoguchi stops them and takes Ushio to the first-aid room, but they can not find anyone, then Mizoguchi takes care of Ushio. Ushio tries to refuse Mizoguchi's aid but Mizoguchi finds a great number of scars done by a knife all over Ushio's body. Kisugi produced them. Ushio loved Takurou and adored him, but Kisugi threatened Ushio and Ushio could not refuse Kisugi's order. Feeling very guilty, Ushio starts panicking, but Mizoguchi saves Ushio kissing him hard. Ushio slaps Mizoguchi's face but keeps crying into Mizoguchi's arms.
The movie has finally been completed. Takurou has the time now to meet two person he needs to talk with. One is his father and the other is Tateno, an ex lover of Nagami. Takurou returns home to invite his parents to the preview of his movie. Takurou apologizes for having neglected his filial duties, but he finds out his father has been watching every work of Takurou and collected many of them. Takurou confesses to his father he now has a lover. Then Takurou meets Tateno and Tateno tells him he has been very glad to know that Nagami has found Takurou, a partner who will love him for the rest of his life. Tateno asks Takurou to believe Nagami and wait until Nagami will solve his problem and come back.
One day Takurou finds a present in his mail. It is a book for children, from Nagami. Yoshida tells Takurou that Nagami has already returned and is already working in his office. Yoshida suggests Takurou to phone Nagami, but Takurou refuses. Yoshida gets angry and afraid that Takurou will not forgive Nagami for his cold behavior. But Takurou says he can not go to see Nagami until Nagami will solve his problems. Then Nagami will come to Takurou. Yoshida understands Takurou.
In the middle of the night Takurou's telephone suddenly rings. Takurou answers the phone but no one is talking on it. Takurou understands it's a call from Nagami and continues to wait Nagami's voice for a hour. Takurou thinks Nagami can say nothing because Nagami has too many things to tell Takurou now. Then Takurou read sentences from the book which Nagami sent him, "I love you by the number of my dreams. Whenever I love you, my dreams grow...I love you, Kiyoshi".

At the end of this volume, Nagami confesses his past to Takurou, who forgives and accepts him. Many Japanese men like inexperienced women because naive and innocent women will obey experienced men easily. But most Japanese women hate with intensity such traditional subservient role and want their partner to accept them fully, even if those women are not 'pure' but have lived past experiences. Those experiences can help them in solving, together with their partners, the problems that could eventually arise in their relationships.
Story)
Nagami disappears from Takurou to resolve the problem he has with Kisugi. Before returning home, Nagami visits the hospital to see his grandfather, Tadamasa. Tadamasa seems to know he will die soon and the motive that brought Nagami to him now. Tadamasa apologizes, but he can not support Nagami now. Nagami regrets he can not show Takurou to his grandfather. One hour later after Nagami leaves Tadamasa, Tadamasa suddenly gets worse and dies.
Nagami meets with his brother, Masayasu, and asks him why does he try to interfere with Nagami using Kisugi. Masayasu makes Nagami remember that their eldest brother, Keigo, will come forward as a candidate member of the House of Representatives like their grandfather, Tadamasa. But it seems impossible for Masayasu to win, if he won't have the strong support of a certain financial tycoon who is known to have homosexual preference. Then Masayasu suggests Nagami to seduce the tycoon. Nagami wants to refuse but finally accepts, on the condition that Masayasu will never interfere with Nagami and Takurou again and that Masayasu will keep Kisugi away from them. Masayasu loved his beautiful younger brother when Nagami was a child, but Masayasu started to hate Nagami because Nagami stood against his family and never accepted anybody's love until Takurou appeared. Because of that, now Masayasu hates Takurou and wants Takurou to part with Nagami.
Nagami gets his ring off from his finger and goes to a Japanese restaurant with the tycoon, eats, drinks the sake and lies with the tycoon calling silently the name of Takurou. Returning home, Nagami washes his body many times and vomits as he remembers the disgusting feelings he had when he had sex with the tycoon. He also feels guilty for Takurou. Nagami finally collapses and is brought to the hospital. Tateno goes to see Nagami in the hospital and asks him why did he decide to return home. This decision must have proven very stressing, thinks Tateno, since Nagami is so thin. But Nagami does not answer. Then Tateno passes Nagami the book for children "Dream of Nights". Nagami reads it aloud and begins to weep and asks Tateno, "Why should I be allowed to love Takurou? I'm very dirty. I have no right to love him, do I?". Tateno comforts Nagami even if he knows there is only one man who can heal Nagami's heart, and this is Takurou.
After getting out of the hospital, Masayasu passes the pledge to Nagami and promises not to interfere with him and to send Kisugi again to the psychiatric hospital. But Nagami can not return to his office soon, because he feels guilty, so he decides to stay with his brothers for a while and to help his brother campaigning.
Working so hard to prepare the perfect campaign plan, Nagami buys at the bookstore the same book which Tateno gave him, and sends it to Takurou. Nagami decides to return to his office. But Nagami can't go to Takurou because he doesn't know how to face Takurou, what to say to him. Nagami wants to hear the voice of Takurou so much and calls him at midnight. While Nagami can not say a word, Takurou reads the book that Nagami sent him as a present. Nagami weeps and understands that Takurou has forgiven him. Nagami decides to go to see Takurou on Nagami's birthday, Takurou allowing it or not.
Takurou also, luckily, decides to meet Nagami on his birthday and checks Nagami's schedule of the day. Nagami is supposed to be at his office when Takurou will finish his work. Takurou's manager phones Nagami and asks him to wait on the entrance hall at 7 o'clock. When Nagami is descending the steps, his cell-phone rings. It's Masayasu, he warns Nagami that Kisugi escaped from his house this morning and is probably looking for Nagami to kill him. Masayasu still haven't found him, so Nagami must be aware of the danger. Nagami has a bad premonition and calls Yoshida, but he doesn't answer the phone. Then Nagami calls Mizoguchi and asks him about Yoshida and Takurou. Mizoguchi tells Nagami that they will come to his office today. Nagami tries to find Takurou but the entrance hall is so crowded with the press after the meeting to present new products that Nagami can not find Takurou easily. Nagami sees Kisugi approaching with his knife, but Takurou suddenly appears between them and the knife strikes Takurou in his belly. Takurou says: "Happy birthday, Kiyoshi" and loses his consciousness held by Nagami.
This incident is perfectly concealed from the media thanks to the power of Masayasu and Denpoudou. Takurou enters the hospital and undergoes a surgical operation. Nagami can do nothing but to pray for Takurou's recovery and tries not to think about all that by working hard. Takurou is saved and Nagami thanks God. Lots of people come to see Takurou at the hospital. Takurou confesses to his mother that he loves a male, Nagami. Takurou promises her that he will show Nagami to her and she says she is also looking forward to it. Misaki and Ushio with Mizoguchi also visit. Takurou finds out that Ushio and Mizoguchi had become lovers but keeps the news from Misaki.
Takurou fully recovers and leaves hospital, but he doesn't to know how to meet Nagami who seems to think to be the cause of Takurou's accident. After long wondering, Takurou falls asleep and at midnight Nagami enters Takurou's room. Nagami touches Takurou's body and weeps when he finds the scar on Takurou's belly. Takurou awakes and apologizes because Nagami had to be so worried for him. Nagami asks Takurou to go to live together in a new house because he doesn't want regrets if the accident occurs again. Nagami confesses all his past: the rape in NY and he the consequential hate he developed for his body he perceived ad shameless and wanton. Because of that, he had used himself for his business. But thanks to the love of Takurou, Nagami can love himself for the first time. Takurou also confesses his past, the hatred and death of his brother who really loved him. Takurou also thought he had no right to be loved by someone. They know they are the dearest one for each other and that their relationship was destined. But Takurou is still afraid of their living together. He tells the reason to Nagami, who says: "I'd rather die by too much sex with you than become crazy by living separated from you and worrying about you". Part One:
Iwao Togusa suddenly died. He was the head(leader) of the old local yakuza group, "Togusagumi" which has influence over the north area in Japan. His son, Retsu Togusa is a very weak, tame & tender student and has no confidence to maintain Togusagumi instead of his father. Retsu loves Shuuji Kuroha who joined Togusagumi years ago and soon becomes a young chief(managing staff/principal member) of Togusagumi. Retsu wants Kuroha to marry with his sister, Kanoko and succeed Togusagumi instead of Retsu.�@
Retsu consults his plan with Juugorou Handa who is an oldest staff of Togusagumi. Retsu and Handa go to Retsu's mother in law, Kikuno to talk about plan but give up it because she is fucking with Gunzou Ishioka who is an another chief of Togusagumi. Kikuno really loved Kuroha but Kuroha continues to refuse her proposal, then Kikuno changes her mind and depends on Ishioka after her husband's death.
The formal meeting is held to determine the successor of Togusagumi. One politician (In Japan, yakuza and politician are good friends) suddenly recommends Ishioka as the successor. Handa and some young members are protesting loudly but Kuroha keeps silent and sitting. After a few days, Handa is killed and the internal war occurs. Then Togusagumi is totally separated into two groups and they begin to lose its control. Ishioka is shot and enters the hospital. Many members are arrested including Kuroha and nobody can guard Retsu left in his house helplessly. Then an old member of Togusagumi, Hirayama seduces Retsu. Hirayama is homosexual and has loved Retsu for long time though he knows Retsu really loves Kuroha. Other young members of Togusagumi can stop Hirayama, then Retsu is obliged to accept Hirayama's rapes though it is gentle and tender.
After being released, Kuroha hides himself into his lover's house. Retsu comes there but runs away as soon as he looks at Kuroha. Kuroha wonders and phones to Hisashi Akimoto who is the youngest member of Togusagumi and is best friend of Retsu. Kuroha knows tragedy about Retsu at his absence.
Kuroha visits Retsu and declares he will succeeds Togusagumi in front of Hirayama. Hirayama asks Kuroha whether Kuroha can take(fuck) Retsu, a son of previous leader. If Kuroha can, Hirayama will admit him as a successor. Hirayama undresses Retsu and throws Retsu to Kuroha. But Retsu loses his consciousness with high fever by flu and collapse in Kuroha's arms...
During Retsu is lying on the bed, the meeting is held with Kuroha and Gouzou Shiratori who is the leader of Shiratorigumi. Togusagumi will join to the largest yakuza association of Tokyo,'Tendoukai' after the meeting. Kuroha is really a member of Shiratorigumi and killed Handa by himself to cause internal war of Togusagumi. Kuroha apologizes Retsu and says he is a just only yakuza whose profession is the dirtiest of the world. Retsu finds himself to be free from the pressure of Togusagumi now but at same time he feels himself to be unnecessary person for everyone and alone. But Kuroha says he wants to give Togusagumi to Retsu when Retsu is grown up. Kuroha asks Retsu why Retsu did not refuse Hirayama's rape. Retsu weeps and confesses he is homosexual and has wanted to be loved by Kuroha like Hirayama did. Kuroha says he also loves Retsu and may be homosexual because he wants to kiss to Retsu now. Then they are kissing...

Part Two:
The previous noticing scenes of cruel rape of Retsu by Iwaki. Retsu is kidnapped and imprisoned in the room by certain conspiracy of Takuji Katagiri who is the leader of Katagirigumi. Retsu has been trained to be a sex slave by Iwaki there for many days...
Retsu gets on the train to Tokyo to see Kuroha who is working in Tokyo as a leader of Seiryuukai which is the financial section of Tendoukai. Hisashi appears late to pick up Retsu at the station and they go to the headquarters of Seiryuukai at Shibuya to find Kuroha. Kuroha invites them to the dinner with his old friend, Kenichirou Mizunuma who is a government career bureaucrat.
Kuroha is always working very busy to invest the enormous sum of money of Tendoukai and seldom returns his house. Retsu feels very lonely and very hungry in Kuroha's house because Retsu are not so familiar with other member of Seiryuukai there and can not ask them even the money or dishes. Then Retsu goes to the headquarters to see Hisashi. But Retsu can't meet Hisashi because Hisashi is at the porno shop at Shinjuku where his girl friend is working. Hisashi is a little surprised to see Retsu who comes to Shinjuku to meet him and give the note to Retsu about the place of his apartment and he allows Retsu to come if Retsu feels lonely.
Returning to Kuroha's house, Retsu finds phone ringing and picked up the receiver. But he can not find how to answer it well. Then Retsu is scolded very strictly by Natsuhiko Mozume who is a chief staff of Seiryuukai. Mozume orders Retsu not to go the headquarters again and take the office phone without his permission. Retsu realizes there is no room for Retsu at Kuroha's house & Tokyo. Retsu was an uninvited guest for Kuroha's staffs...
One day Kuroha engages Retsu to go to the dinner together. At the late night, Kuroha and Retsu go to the restaurant by car but they are attacked by the enemy, a member of Katagirigumi with the gun. Soon Kuroha goes to headquarters without having dinner and Retsu should return to his house. Because of fear & hunger, Retsu doesn't spend time alone, so he goes to Hisashi's apartment at Shinjuku. Hisashi is playing mah-jong with his friends. Then Retsu waits Hisashi at next room and find homosexual magazine on the book shelf. Retsu rushes back to his room of Kuroha's house with it and reads it hungrily. Retsu finds himself walking around Shinjuku 2 choume (where many gay men go to find their sex friends) and follows the stranger who shows the seductive action to Retsu. Katagiri happens to be there and finds Retsu goes into a hotel with man. Katagiri calls Iwaki on phone and gives a mission...
Retsu can not stay at home because the dog of Kuroha sniffs at Retsu's mouth because Retsu eats dog food by hunger. When Retsu is wandering around Shinjuku 2 choume, Mizunuma happens to find Retsu. Mizunuma invites Retsu to the dinner and talks about his high school days with Kuroha very delightfully to Retsu. Mizunuma loved Kuroha but Kuroha did not accept his love when they were students. Mizunuma gives his name card to Retsu and offers Retsu to come to see him whenever Retsu wants.
Kuroha does not return home even more because he is very busy to prepare the counterplot to Katagirigumi and keeps to stay at headquarters of Seiryuukai. Retsu goes to Hisashi's room but he seems very sleepy and tired with the pregnant trouble of his girl friend. Then Retsu phones Mizunuma but he is also busy and has no time to spend with. When Retsu is wandering at Shinjuku 2 choume absentmindedly, a man suddenly pulls Retsu into the car. He introduces himself as Takuji Katagiri and Retsu knows he is kidnapped....
At the headquarters, all staffs are working hard to find Retsu. Mozume gets the information by policeman's call and finds a deserted apartment where Retsu is lying rapped by dirty blanket on the ground alone. Retsu's face looks deep pale and eyes seems to be very empty. Retsu refuses to return home and wants to keep staying there. Mozume doesn't force to bring Retsu back any more and leaves Retsu there.
Kuroha scolds Mozume's failure in the car to the secret night club house. Kuroha is invited by someone to see the abnormal sex show there. On the stage, very big man with the costume of Roman warrior gives enema to the beautiful boy. The boy is Retsu...
After the stage, as Retsu is walking alone to the station in the midnight, he is suddenly caught by Mozume into the car of Kuroha. Retsu can do nothing but tremble by being asked "Do you like enema, Retsu?" by Kuroha. When their car stops in front of the headquarters at Shibuya, Ikeda, the substitution of leader of Tendoukai who comes to see Kuroha is shot by a subordinate of Katagirigumi.
The big war between Seiryuukai and Katagirigumi occurs. Many cars of Katagirigumi are blown up by bomb of Seiryuukai. Every members of Seiryuukai become so busy to find Takuji Katagiri that they forget Retsu who begins to stop eating. When Mozume goes to Kuroha's house, in the dark room he finds a lot of tablet of acid around Retsu lying on the floor and muttering something, "In the evening I see many houses are bright with light and I think everyone are eating dinner there but I'm alone and I'm lonely...". Retsu strips all his clothes and catches Mozume and hugs. Mozume finds the letter of "Dog" on Retsu's shoulder. It's a tattoo by Katagiri. When Mozume is very surprised to phones to Kuroha, Retsu escapes from the house.
Hearing all from Mozume, Kuroha takes a japanese sword in his hand. Every member of Seiryuukai try to stop Kuroha but he says,"It's a just my personal revenge, so you can not stop me!" and he runs out.
Kuroha tortures the hostage of Katagirigumi and makes him to confess where Katagiri is. Katagiri hides in his lover's apartment room with Iwaki. When Kuroha cuts the fingers of Iwaki, Hisashi reaches there and says, "Please make me revenge for Retsu". Kuroha orders Hisashi to kill Iwaki and orders Katagiri to suicide too.
In the rain of the night, Retsu is sucking toluene alone at the corner of Shibuya. He sees Kuroha standing in front of him. He approaches to Kuroha and stumbles at the foot of Kuroha and loses his consciousness....
Mozume reports Kuroha he completed to arrange Retsu's returning to his native place. Kuroha orders Mozume to get the same train ticket after a few days and to prepare his holiday for a few days. Mozume put the small bundle on the desk. It contains Mozume's finger to apologize his failure of treatment for Retsu. Kuroha says,"Never do again such stupid action as a chief of Seiryuukai. Please take care of Retsu when he will come back again and Hisashi's woman and her child".
Retsu are living alone in his old house fighting with the loneliness and the lack of acid. After visiting his father's grave, Retsu finds the foot print on the snow at the front door. Kuroha is standing over there.
As drinking tea, Kuroha offers the acid to Retsu with saying, "You had only to terminate acid slowly. It's not your fault". Retsu cries out and tries to avoid Kuroha's touch. Kuroha says angrily, "Do you escape from me? Do you keep living alone?" Retsu pleas with crying, "Because I can't return to previous days, I don't know how to see you again" Kuroha holds Retsu and asks, "You should decide your future for yourself. Do you prefer to be alone than be with me?". Retsu holds back Kuroha so tightly.
In the train to Tokyo, Kuroha apologizes Retsu that he thought Mozume gave the money to Retsu and Mozume also thought he gave it to Retsu. Retsu also apologize for putting Kuroha out of countenance and making Kuroha to be angry by Retsu's being humiliated. But Kuroha says he is angry because Retsu tried to use other man to satisfy his desire instead of Kuroha. Kuroha says, "Don't forget that your man is only me". At the Kuroha's house, Mizunuma is waiting and he apologizes Retsu that he pretended being busy and refused the meeting with Retsu on the other day. Mozume passed the credit card to Retsu and says to Retsu, "Only you are not lonely. All young people who want to be the yakuza don't have enough family and to come to us to find new family instead. I envy you and Hisashi. We like Kuroha very much but we are not real family as well as you...".
Kuroha confesses to Retsu about his past. Kuroha already divorced with his wife who is a daughter of the leader of Shiratorigumi because Kuroha could not love her more than she wanted. Kuroha asks Retsu, "Don't you hate such a man?" holding Retsu tightly. Retsu cries and tries to refuse Kuroha's embrace because he is ashamed of his lustful desire for Kuroha. But Kuroha doesn't forgive Retsu's refusal and penetrates Retsu with his thick & raging hard-on. Retsu keeps being ashamed of greedy his body bucking against Kuroha's cock but comes many times and finally tells to Kuroha weeping in pleasure, "I have been longed for being done like this, really for long time..". Yuuichi Amamiya is just an ordinary high school student. He has no dream and doesn't know what he wants to do or to become in the future. One day on the roof of the school, Yuuichi happens to see the drawing of some jewels done by his classmate, Fumimasa Yoshimura. Yuuichi praises Fumimasa's talent as a jewelry designer. They seldom meet until they graduate. They don't exchange their address, then, but exchange presents: the rings of Garnet. Yuuichi finds it was his first love and decides to choose a job to deal the jewel.
Yuuichi becomes part of the staff of a very famous jewel shop,'Curette' and meets there Fumimasa who, in the meanwhile, had become an apprentice of the famous designer of jewelry, Kurou Makishiro. Fumimasa invites Yuuichi for supper after work. Since then Yuuichi starts to obey him anytime, and in any ways. But one day Yuuichi hears Itou - a co-worker of Fumimasa - spread slander about him. Itou says that Fumimasa is probably the lover of Makishiro, and because of that lives in a luxurious house at the expenses of Makishiro.
Yuuichi goes to Makishiro's house and another apprentice of Makishiro, Ishii, also tells him that Fumimasa is Makishiro's lover. Yuuichi's suspicions seem to be confirmed when he happens to hear an argument between Fumimasa and his master: it seems a lovers' quarrel. But Yuuichi decides that Fumimasa can do everything he pleases, because Yuuichi loves Fumimasa whatever happens.
One day Yuuichi and Itou hear a rumor, it seems that someone stole the drawings of the Christmas 'Curette' jewels done by Makishiro and sold them to a rival shop. By chance, Yuuichi sees the sample of those same drawings at Fumimasa's, and starts to think that Fumimasa could be a criminal. But Yuuichi sees Ishii meets meeting a member of the staff of rival shop at coffee shop. Ishii sees him and rapes him in order to avoid him to mention what he saw to anyone. Yuuichi decides to see Fumimasa to hear the true story from him, but when Yuuichi reaches Fumimasa's house, Fumimasa is called by Makishiro's apprentices because Makishiro had a sudden breakdown. Yuuichi and Fumimasa go to the hospital and find Ishii there. Ishii demands Yuuichi not to tell about the crime, but Yuuichi confesses to Fumimasa that he has been raped by Ishii, a criminal. Fumimasa takes Yuuichi to his home and confesses that Makishiro is his father. Makishiro had been married with a rich woman and had to hide the existence of his lover and her son. After the death of his wife, Makishiro apologized to Fumimasa and gave him his money. Fumimasa, in return, offered his drawings to his father, who had begun to lose his talent with age. Yuuichi bravely says he loves Fumimasa and that Fumimasa should resign from the company of his father and accept his father's love simply as his son. Fumimasa is very surprised by the courage of Yuuichi, who always seemed to be very weak and obedient to Fumimasa and they make love together. Fumimasa is chosen to be one of the three candidates to the position of special designer of "Curette". The other two designers are Fuyuki and Imada. Imada is very surprised by Yuuichi's appearance, because he resembles Imada's younger brother very much. Imada's brother had escaped from Imada and Imada had been searching for him since then.
Fumimasa asks Yuuichi to live together because Yuuichi had a serious cold but he hid his personal problems for Fumimasa though Fumimasa always wants to know everything about Yuuichi. But Yuuichi's friend, Itou, is against this because Fumimasa is a candidate and it is not a fair thing to do before the contest. Yuuichi wants to tell Itou that he loves Fumimasa but Itou refuses to listen to Yuuichi's confession and orders him not to tell it to anyone.
Yuuichi is also asked by Fumimasa's father to give up his love for Fumimasa. Yuuichi can not accept it but tries to avoid to meet Fumimasa in "Curette" during the contest. Fumimasa can not understand Yuuichi's deep intention and tries to kiss him in the Curette shop. Imada happens to see it and thinks Yuuichi is threatened by Fumimasa.
Imada invites Yuuichi to a coffee shop and says he will protect Yuuichi from Fumimasa and gives a tie pin to Yuuichi as a present. After Imada has gone, Fumimasa appears there and gets angry with Yuuichi, so he takes him back home and fucks him very roughly, as if raping him. Imada had told Fumimasa before that Yuuichi really feared Fumimasa and obeyed him out of his fear. Yuuichi explains to Fumimasa that Imada misunderstood what he said, but Fumimasa begins to think that Yuuichi is afraid of people finding out that Yuuichi is gay. Fumimasa could ruin his life...
Yuuichi decides to stop hiding his gay identity. Yuuichi makes Itou admit his love for Fumimasa and goes to Fumimasa's room to celebrate Fumimasa's birthday. They reconfirm their love for each other but Imada gets angry to see Yuuichi's visit to Fumimasa. Imada scolds Yuuichi and shows his knife to Yuuichi, telling him it will be useful to protect him from from Fumimasa.
Yuuichi thinks Imada is dangerous, so he returns the tie pin to Imada after work at Curette and asks him to leave them alone. Imada does not believe that Yuuichi loves Fumimasa and insists anyone will never allow them to go on with their homosexual relationship. But Fumimasa appears with Itou and Itou declares that he will always be Yuuichi's friend and that he doesn't disapprove their relationship. Imada attacks Fumimasa with his knife but Yuuichi intervenes and is cut by him. Imada runs away and Yuuichi is carried to the hospital.
In the hospital, Yuuichi learns the rest of the story from Fumimasa. Imada's younger brother escaped from their incestuous relationship and Imada became homophobic. Recently Yuuichi feels tired because he has to take care of the house since Fumimasa has become busier and returns home late. But Yuuichi really knows why he is so tired. It is because now they seldom talk, he is bothered by the lack of conversations.
Fumimasa resigned from his position as designer of "Curette" and moved to a new small shop for younger people. Yuuichi has more free time than Fumimasa and loves him too much, so he decides to do all for him.

Itou explains the good relationship of husband and wife from his own life using the famous words, "Tomo Mina Ware yori Eraku Miyuru Hi, Hana demo Katte Tsuma to Cha wo Nomou (When all my friends look superior to me, I will come back home with something like flowers and drink tea with my wife)". It means it's important for you and your partner to be able to be relax together and your or your partner's talent/superiority is not so important. Yuuichi also gives some advice to his younger brother, who loves a man, and feels a little better. But he is told by his friend that Fumimasa and Yuka went to the maternity hospital for abortion together. Yuuichi escapes to his brother's apartment to be alone to think. He decides to ask Yuka. Yuuichi thinks he would better part from Fumimasa if Fumimasa killed the baby and made the woman unhappy just for Yuuichi.
Yuka tells to Yuuichi that the father of her baby was Fumimasa, but Fumimasa suddenly appears in front of them and says it is a huge lie. Yuka met a very rich man in Paris and he supported her promotion. She decided to have an abortion to keep the relationship with him, because he already had a family.
So she asked Fumimasa to become her husband on the abortion agreement paper of hospital. He accepted out of his pity for her.
Yuuichi and Fumimasa spend a long time together and make love and talk a lot. Yuuichi says that he is not a strong man but just an ordinary guy; notwithstanding this he wants to hear everything about Fumimasa and to share his feelings with him even if it could hurt him. The author is the most popular yaoi novel writers in Japan (this is her first/debut commercial book). And this is also one of the most popular yaoi novels. The first reason is the description of this novel is very aesthetic but enough casual (not so classical style) for even young readers to enjoy easily. The second one is this is the doctors story (Japanese yaoi fans are very fond of stories of doctors who is very selfish & childish though they are elite - in this story a doctor tries to kill his lover in a pool until he will agree to live together). The third is the very attractive and characters (seme is very sexy & but cold, strict and selfish like a child, uke is superficially very weak but very patient and merciful to forgive the people who hurts him (as if Jesus Christ!). Japanese people (especially women) often think latter men are more virtuous than the aggressive and eloquent men. Listening carefully & patiently is more precious(wiser) than speaking loudly & tactfully in Japan society.

Kazuomi Furutani is a chief doctor of circulative organs? in high-class private hospital in Koube (the city of Hyougo prefecuture: the west area in Japan). He lives alone in a big old deluxe mansion with a lot of tropical fishes. He is very handsome and excellent but very cold. One day three fresh doctors, Akiyoshi Shirai, Enoki, Hayashida enter the hospital for training. Furutani is assigned to be a intructive doctor of Shirai who is very timid and reserved. Enoki and Hayashida feel uneasy with Shirai and leave him alone at lunch time. Shirai tries to find dining room but loses his way in a large hospital. Then Furutani suddenly calls and asks Shirai to join to the lunch together. Shirai accepts Furutani's invitation but soon realizes it's only Furutani's courtesy because Furutani is not smiling. Furutani finds a new, non-used coffee maker and orders Shirai to buy the coffee beans at convenience store. During Shirai's absence, Furutani searches Shirai's bed room and finds the gay magazine in the book shelf. When Shirai returns, Furutani is sitting on the sofa with tired face. Furutani serves the delicious coffee for them and soon leaves. Then Shirai will see the magazine spread on his bed. Shirai is so shocked and knows he should give up his peaceful days at new place again.

It's a very popular and long series. The author, who lives in Hokkaidou, (Northernmost prefecture in Japan), writes very suggestive descriptions of the natural beauty of the place. The theme of the story is that the real soul mates want their lovers to be independent and strong in the relationship and don't want them to sacrifice their lives for love. Since perhaps almost every ordinary Japanese woman sacrifices her life for her man, the author probably wonders if women really want it and why they can not live their relationships with men in an egalitarian friendship such as the one between men. Therefore many Japanese women sympathized with this series very much.

Kou Shinohara starts his new life as a freshman at Hokkaidou University. He escaped from a very hard experience at his home in Tokyo. Kou meets another student who is a medicine student like him. The name of the student is Takashi Ashiya, and he lives in the next room in the same apartment for students.
Both feel it's destiny that had them meet so Kou begins to visit Takashi's room very often, to spend their time together and prepare their dishes. Takashi becomes a good friend of Kou, though Kou is a remarkably beautiful man. Until then, Kou had been a very lonely guy, but he slowly begins to talk with Takashi's friends too, and to know the joys of friendship. He enjoys his student life very much. But gradually Kou begins to feel more than a simple friendship for Takashi, he begins to love him. Kou knows Takashi has a girlfriend in Tokyo now, so Kou suffers for his love.
Kou's parents have been against Kou's decision to go to the Hokkaidou University from the start, consequentially often tell him to come back. Kou must return to Tokyo for a few days because his parents plan to hold Kou's birthday party. Kou's father is the president of a very big company and his son must participate to such family events. Kou has a very hard time with his family and wants to return to Hokkaidou as soon as possible.
When Kou returns to the airport of Hokkaidou, Takashi comes to meet him though Kou did not inform Takashi when he would return exactly. Takashi just holds Kou without asking why Kou is crying so much.
The same day, Takashi celebrates Kou's birthday with him at a french restaurant, but after dinner Takashi introduces a woman to Kou. She is a friend of Takashi's girlfriend, Kihoko, and she falls in love with Kou only for his beauty, but they don't have a good relationship. Kou gets so angry with Takashi because Takahashi forced him to get a girlfriend. Kou runs away from Takashi while it's raining hard and is caught by Takashi, who says he thought Kou would have been happier with a girlfriend. But Kou says "I only want that you understand me!". Takashi apologizes Kou and accepts Kou's request.
In the golden week (Japanese long National holiday in May), Takashi's old friend, Shinshi Ootsuka, comes to meet Takashi. Shinshi is a student of Tokyo University and he is gay and in love with Takashi since they were students at the same high school in Hokkaidou. Shinshi confessed his love to Takashi but Takashi says they can be just friends because Takashi is not gay. Shinshi's face resembles Kou's, so Kou thinks Takashi likes Kou because Kou could be Shinshi's substitute in Takashi's mind. Kou gets a serious cold then and Takashi can not go to say goodbye to Shinshi at the airport because he wants to stay with Kou and take care of him. Kou understands then that Takashi isn't Shinshi's lover.
Takashi and Kou go to a short trip with his friends during summer holidays. They plan to do 'Kimodameshi' (a game where people wander at night to prove their courage). Girls dress Kou as a woman, using their cosmetics, dresses and a wig. Takashi, when he sees him, suddenly becomes silent and Kou, his partner in Kimodameshi, regrets his stupid action very much. They get involved in a brawl because some young guys harrassed Kou during Kimodameshi and Takashi fights with them to protect Kou. Kou kisses a seriously injured Takashi, at last.... After their summer trip, the relationship between Kou and Takashi changes a little. Kou can not depend on Takashi like before. Takashi meets his girlfriend, Kihoko, who returns to Sapporo from Tokyo for her summer holidays and Kou returns to Tokyo to spend a few days with his parents. There, Kou's parents suggest that Kou could meet a rich girl and start thinking about marrying her. Kou meets her at an hotel in Tokyo, but she finds out that Kou loves someone else, not her. She is very kind and says she will refuse the arrangement. At same hotel, Kou happens to see Shinshi, Takashi's old friend & Kou's rival in his love for Takashi. Kou wants to ask Shinshi some advice about Takashi and goes to Shinshi's room.
Shinshi turns out to be a very nice guy and Kou confesses everything to Shinshi. Shinshi also confesses his difficult past and his current romance. He has a male lover (an elder doctor) now, so Shinshi returned to Sapporo and met Takashi to test his love for his new lover. Kou says he wants to monopolize Takashi but also thinks he can not be happy and loved by anybody because Kou is a killer (his birth caused his father's previous wife death by car accident). But Shinshi suggests Kou to ask Takashi what he thinks, even if it could hurt Kou. When Shinshi is caressing and kissing a weeping Kou to console him, the doctor enters Shinshi's room and sees them. The doctor runs away but Shinshi just laughs.
Returning from Tokyo, Kou realizes he can not lose Takashi and decides to be a good friend of Takashi and to hide his love for him. Kou and his friends holds a party at Takashi's and when Kou comes back to his own room to take some other beers, he meets his younger sister, Ayako, who is working as a flight attendance in Narita. Takashi sees them holding each other and thinks she is Kou's girlfriend. Luckily, soon he finds out the truth and Ayako soon becomes friend with his brother's friends. After the party, Ayako confesses she will be married soon and she can succeed family business with her husband, replacing Kou. She allows Kou to be free and apologizes for the very hard responsibilities that had been pressed upon Kou only. When Kou is crying alone for his great relief and for her kindness after her leave, Takashi suddenly visits Kou's room and asks why Kou is weeping. Takashi holds Kou who is not saying the reason but just keeps on crying...
When Kou is visiting Takashi's room and Takashi is taking a bath, the telephone rings and Kou answers it for Takashi. It's Kihoko. Kihoko asks Kou if Takashi has now another lover or not. She confesses Kou that Takashi suddenly asked her to part with him when she returned to Sapporo in this summer vacation. Kou is very shocked to know it and he thinks Takashi doesn't think about him as a good friend, otherwise Takashi himself would have told him the news. Kou feels very lonely and can not stop crying.
Kou & his friends go for a short trip to Hakodate in Hokkaidou. During the trip, Kou's friend, Nariko, confesses her love for Kou to him. Hesitates but does not accept her love then and there. Kou and Takashi are drinking in their room at the hotel and Kou asks Takashi why he did not told Kou about his decision to leave Kihoko. Takashi answers it is because Kou also never talks about himself (especially about his family in Tokyo) and Kihoko is just his own business. Kou is greatly disappointed: Takashi thinks they can not even be good friends. He didn't ask Kou advice about his girlfriend. Kou begins to weep and Takashi holds him and finally gives him a deep kiss to Kou to stop his crying. Kou thinks Takashi does it because Takashi is getting tired of being angry with Kou. Takashi goes out of their room by strong refusal by Kou. Then Kou accepts Nariko's proposal without consulting Takashi as a revenge... In this volume, Kou begins to change, to grow up confronting with the actions of his partner. It's what most Japanese readers keep on wishing but in many cases they can not do it in their real life....
Kou begins to date Nariko but he can not enjoy it. Kou becomes promiscuous? (rampant) and dates a lot of women makes many girl friends blindly. Nariko becomes very sad and asks Kou if he really loves her. But Kou has nothing to say for crying Nariko.
When Kou returns to his room, finds Takashi who has been waiting for Kou , to scold him because he has involved Nariko into their own problem. Kou gets angry and asks Takashi what their problem is. Kou expects Takashi to say it is between him and Takashi. But Takashi corrects it as "Kou's own problem" and orders Kou not to run away from his problem. Kou quickly escapes into his own room but he himself begins to feel he should not avoid from his own problem anymore and should find new way to live and a new relationship with Takashi. But Kou is not enough strong to start it yet.
After a few days, Kou returns to Tokyo because Kou's sister Ayako decided to announce her engagement formally and Kou's parents asked him to meet with Ayako's fiance. He is very a gentle and reliable man and he and Ayako say Kou can live freely as he want. Kou's father his disappointed with Kou because he is trying to return Hokkaidou soon without discussing the thing in-depth with his family. Kou finally starts to argue with his father for the first time and confesses he has been living according to his parent's wishes. But he can not answer well to his father's question, "Then what is your hope? How do you want to live in the future?" Kou has not thought it fully before because he has totally depended on his parents, even if he hated the situation. Kou declares he will live alone and refuses his parent's support.
Running away from his parents, Kou goes to Shinshi's room again. that he gave up the feeling for Takashi and now has his good partner (That is Tamaki, a doctor). Shinshi is amazed at Kou's incapacity to understand Takashi's feeling and warns Kou to part with Nariko as soon as possible before really hurting her. Kou begins to cry and says he really loves Takashi though he has no right to do it. Shinshi tells Kou to tell it honestly to Takashi, because Takashi should decide what to do. Then Kou decides to reveal his feeling to Takashi, even if he thinks Takashi will not accept it. Kou can not pretend anymore.
Kou visits Takashi's room and tries to tell him of his love and talks about his family, but when he touches Takashi's warm mind and body, Kou has nothing to do but keep crying. Kou falls to sleep without any word with Takashi in his bed. Next morning Kou begins to tell everything to Takashi. Kou says he loves Takashi but he wants nothing from Takashi. Then Takashi kisses Kou and says it is his answer to Kou. Takashi has been waiting so long until Kou could decide to tell him his thoughts by himself. Takashi says he did not want to control Kou or force his love to Kou. Takashi wanted Kou to change his way of life and to decide of his life by himself. Kou understands Takashi's deep consideration and realizes Takashi is really his partner and feels he is worthy to live his own life at least for Takashi. Kou has still two serious issues of his own to be resolved. One is whether he should make love with Takashi (Yeah. They have not yet! Until this volumes! So slow! But this story has a very good theme and a delicate mood, so it is satisfying even without sex scenes). The other one is his intention to rebuild his relationship with his parents, especially with his father.
Kou works more (he does temporary jobs) to have money to be independent from his parents. As a consequence, Kou and Takashi have little time to talk but they don't feel lonely because they know they love each other now. Kou starts the last University year and decides to look for a permanent job in Hokkaidou, he decides he will never return to Tokyo because he knows that Takashi will stay in Hokkaidou because he will major a medical course and it will demand him to stay in the hospitals in Hokkaidou. But Kou does not make love with Takashi because he does not want to use sex as an mean to bind Takashi to him.
Kou returns to Tokyo to report his plan to his family and to tell them he loves Takashi. His father asks Kou whether Kou's job is what Kou really want to do and Kou tells he chose it only because Kou does not want to separate from Takashi. His father also tells Kou that he may not be strong enough since he is afraid he will not be able to maintain his relationship if he won't stay in Hokkaidou. And his eldest his sister, Youko, is severely against Kou's plan, she says he should not avoid his destiny because Youko's mother sacrificed herself and died for Kou. She says she will never accept Kou's homosexuality. She tries to commit suicide falling from the stairs but Kou falls instead of her.
At the hospital, Kou recovers from his coma and finds his weeping sisters and his worried parents. Youko forgives Kou and apologizes and his parents confess their love for Kou and the whole fact of his birth. The death of Youko and Ayako's mother was not a suicide. It had just been a mere car accident. Kou's father never forced her to divorce and at same time he and Kou's mother were very glad of Kou's birth even if he was an illegitimate son. Then Takashi runs into Kou's room. They hold each other very tightly. No one told Takashi about Kou's accident, but Takashi knew about it from Shinshi, because Shinshi's lover practices as a doctor at the same hospital. Takashi declares his love for Kou in front of his family and says he will keep loving Kou even if they have to live in different places or Takashi's parents don't allow their love. Then Kou's father approves their decision, but seems very lonely.
Returning to Hokkaidou, Kou says to Takashi after a long thought that he will return to Tokyo and take up his family business. If Kou remained with Takashi, Kou would depend on Takashi. So Kou wants to live alone in Tokyo and find out if he really love Takashi and to prove that he has a right to be loved by Takashi as an independent mature man. Kou says to Takashi, "I will return to you when I am as strong as you. Will you wait for me?". Takashi says "Yes, I will". They make love for the first time before Kou's return to Tokyo at last.
Five years have passed. Kou is working hard at his father's company and finds a new room to live separately from his family. Takashi has been working in different hospitals in Hokkaidou and his career as a doctor his proceeding very well. One day, when Kou returns to his apartment, he sees someone coming towards him. At the same time Kou's answering machine tells that Takashi is going to move now and his next destination is very far, not Hokkaidou...So it is Tokyo! Yaoi writers like to write side stories using secondary characters. The hero of the fifth and sixth volumes is "Shinshi Ootsuka", a friend of Takashi. Most side stories are not so interesting but this is very interesting because Shinshi's lover, Tamaki Houjou is a nasty character and part of the elite. (In many Japanese yaoi stories, most doctors are represented as nasty or cold or inhumane guys. They have enough strength & intelligence to become elite but lack of humanity and sympathy. And many Japanese women love to see how they agonize over a selfish & charming uke or their having to hide their homosexuality from other people. Love always changes the strong elite men to be weak and sensitive and foolish ordinary guys.

When Tamaki Houjou wakes up, he finds he has a great problem. Someone, a naked boy, is sleeping in his bed with him. Tamaki tries to remember last night. He had just returned from a short period spent studying at US medical centre and the staffs of his hospital held a party for him. There he met this student, Shinshi Ootsuka, hired as temporary worker for the hospital after Tamaki left Japan. But Tamaki can not remember why he slept with Shinshi though Tamaki is not gay. He kicks out Shinshi and tries to forget the fact and his sheets, messy with a lot of semen.
At the hospital, Shinshi finds Tamaki and calls him, but Tamaki keeps ignoring Shinshi. But when Tamaki returns home, Shinshi is sitting at his door. Shinshi says he left his jacket and his apartment key in Tamaki's room during last "night". Shinshi tells Tamaki wanted Shinshi to join him in the bed bed though Shinshi wanted to use the sofa. Tamaki gets angry and thinks Shinshi is trying to blackmail him telling him this lie. Tamaki give Shinshi some money but Shinshi refuses it and gets out from Tamaki's room, apparently hurt.
Tamaki gradually finds out things about Shinshi: he is intelligent (because Shinshi is a student at the Tokyo University), but funny and kind at the same time. Because of that, he is very popular among nurses. Tamaki is always very cold and silent but, only in front of Shinshi, he becomes very emotional and gets angry or argues with Shinshi. And Shinshi also finds out that Tamaki is a very good and industrious doctor and a very kind guy with his patients. Shinshi knows Tamaki is too honest and sincere to pretend to be at ease with someone when he is not, unlike Tamaki's hypocrite family. Tamaki hates his family because they always pretend to be kind to everyone but they aren't. This hypocritical behavior is typical of many elite and rich families. Tamaki feels relieved when he finds out Shinshi loves Takashi who is his old friend, but at same time he also feel uneasy when Shinshi talks about him, a thing Shinshi likes to do. Tamaki feels uneasy also when Shinshi chit chats with Tamaki's friends, the female doctor Kaori and the gay doctor Agawa, etc�c then Tamaki finds why he feels so. Because he is jealous.
Shinshi invites Tamaki to his room and prepares supper for him. Again Shinshi talks about Takashi and tells him he is planning to return to Hokkaidou during the Golden week. Tamaki demand Shinshi not to return but to join the tennis match in their hospital. Shinshi refuses it and asks why Tamaki gives him orders, is it because Tamaki loves him? Tamaki gets out without an answer.
Shinshi suddenly appears at the tennis match but Tamaki can not ask why Shinshi has changed his plan. Tamaki begins to avoid Shinshi, but they are invited to the birthday party of Kaori. Tamaki doesn't like at all to see Kaori kiss Shinshi for a joke, but Tamaki is suddenly called by the hospital because of an urgent patient. When Tamaki returns home, he happens to meet Shinshi coming back from Kaori's party. Shinshi smells of Kaori's perfume and has kiss marks on his neck, so Tamaki misunderstands the situation, thinks Shinshi had sex with Kaori and rapes him in his room. Though Shinshi does not protest, he is aroused and comes, Shinshi calls Takashi and says he doesn't want to see him for a while.
Tamaki and Shinshi barely talk to each other in the hospital. Tamaki's professor suggests him to go abroad to study. Tamaki is wondering whether he should do it or not. Shinshi's working period is going to be over, but Tamaki refuses to attend his farewell party. On the day of the party, Tamaki stays in hospital as a doctor on duty. But his patient escapes from the hospital before the operation, so Tamaki tries to find her at her high school. Tamaki finds her, however, with Shinshi on the roof of the school. Shinshi persuades her not to commit suicide and to confess her love to her classmate honestly. Tamaki feels Shinshi is asking him to be honest and to admit his love for him.
Tamaki visits Shinshi's room after the operation to tell him he approves his courageous behavior. Shinshi found the girl escaping from the hospital when he was going to his farewell party. Then party was held without the host. Tamaki confesses his love to Shinshi but shinshi weeps helplessly and says he doesn't want to hear it because he doesn't want to agonize upon the fruitless, impossible love between an homosexual guy and an heterosexual one like Takashi again. Shinshi left Hokkaidou to escape from Takashi and he still feels unease about loving again. Tamaki holds Shinshi and promises he will not go abroad to study. Tamaki tells Shinshi, "You are charming. I love you and you should love me too. Meet with Takashi and make up your mind".

Everything seems to go well after Shinshi & Tamaki become lovers. But soon Tamaki will encounter difficulty because he has no experience of a balanced love relationship. Elite men like doctors should protect and maintain women entirely and in return they can be arrogant and act as egoist and tyrant with them (and women often allow it). But the author thinks that some Japanese women truly dislike such typical / traditional relationship (superior/strong man and inferior/weak women) and wants more equal and interdependent ones, where the partners work together in harmony.
Story)
After becoming lovers, Shinshi and Tamaki still quarrel often because Tamaki is too arrogant. After Shinshi's meeting with Takashi in Hokkaidou, Shinshi starts talking with Tamaki about Takashi very often and openly. Shinshi, also, does not stop going to Shinjuku 2 choume (where many gay men go to find their sex friends) and Tamaki happens to see Kou and Shinshi kissing in Shinshi's room. Tamaki is jealous and displeased but he is so proud that he can not ask Shinshi not to do so. When they make a trip in Hokkaidou with their co-workers of the hospital, they argue again and Tamaki finally says: "I really don't like guys because I'm not gay" a thing he should not say to a gay man like Shinshi. Shinshi runs to hide into a bath room and Tamaki leaves the room. Then Tamaki consults with his co-workers. Their suggestion is: Tamaki can not understand what to do when he feels jealous because he has very little experience of loving someone seriously and equally. With deep regret, Tamaki returns to his room and apologizes to Shinshi for his childish action. Shinshi forgives Tamaki though Tamaki is a very nasty and arrogant man, and Shinshi must really be a bad subject to love someone like Tamaki.
Tamaki wants to be tolerant and a reliable man, so he pretends not to be unsettled when Kou comes again to ask Shinshi for an advice. But Tamaki' confidence will collapse easily with Shinshi's old friend, Yoshihiro Morino, whom Tamaki doesn't know. Shinshi apologizes that he can not attend the party at Ginza with Tamaki because of his work: he teaches to high school students at Kitasenju (north-east part of Tokyo). But when the place of the party changes to be Shinjuku, Tamaki and his friends happen to see Shinshi with Morino. The next day, Tamaki asks Shinshi about his teaching work, but Shinshi lies, telling that he worked for a long time at Kitasenju. Tamaki sees then Shinshi and Morino going to Shinshi's room. Shinshi introduces Morino to Tamaki and invites Tamaki to join them but Tamaki refuses and returns to his home.
Then black mails begins to reach Tamaki's room everyday. They say "I know your relationship", "Shall I let your relationship to be known by everyone?", etc... Tamaki consults it with his co-workers but not with Shinshi. The gay doctor, Agawa, overhears it and tells it to Shinshi. Shinshi gets angry and ask Tamaki if he thinks he's not reliable. While they are arguing, a box is delivered. In it, there is a bloody internal organ of a pig with a knife and a letter saying "the gift of my heart". Shinshi becomes very nervous and refuses Tamaki's caresses. Shinshi asks Tamaki to see each other less often.
When Tamaki returns home, he meets Morino waiting for him in his car. They are driving and talking about Shinshi. Morino threatens Tamaki: he has to part from Shinshi and pay one million yen if he wants his relationship with Shinshi to remain a secret. But Tamaki refuses it and says he wants nothing but Shinshi. Tamaki goes to meet Shinshi at his university and he says he met Morino. Shinshi is very surprise to know that Tamaki did not accept Morino's conditions. Shinshi confesses all his past story with Morino. Morino is the second sex friend of Shinshi. Shinshi has been the first lover of Morino. After moving from Tokyo to Kyushuu (The southern part of Japan), Morino tried to become heterosexual and to get a girlfriend, but someone told her the rumor that Morino was gay and Morino had to quit his job there and return to Tokyo. Morino wanted to have a revenge upon Shinshi and threatened Shinshi: he had to part from Tamaki if Shinshi wanted to protect Tamaki's social status. They know they wanted to guard each other's secrets though what they really want is to know everything about each other including the other's weakness. They make love for a long time after.
